Infant Lazhan, only a few months old, was urgently transferred from Iraq to Başkent University Hospital – Konya via a fully equipped ambulance, following the diagnosis of a complex congenital heart condition that required immediate and precise medical intervention. The baby was suffering from multiple congenital heart defects, including a ventricular septal defect (VSD), an atrial septal defect (ASD), and a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). These conditions can pose serious, life-threatening risks in infants if not treated promptly. Upon arrival, the patient underwent a comprehensive medical evaluation by the specialized cardiac team. Based on this assessment, a carefully planned treatment strategy was developed, which included a complex open-heart surgery aimed at closing the cardiac defects and correcting the structural abnormalities of the heart. Throughout the treatment process, Dr. Ömer Ali Kerküklü closely monitored the child’s condition, maintaining continuous communication with the family and providing both medical guidance and emotional support at every stage. The surgery was successfully performed, with all cardiac defects repaired. The infant’s condition stabilized following the procedure, marking the beginning of a closely supervised recovery phase. Over time, clear signs of improvement were observed, bringing relief and reassurance to the family after a period of significant concern. Today, Lazhan continues the recovery journey in improved health, stepping into a new phase filled with hope. At Başkent University Hospital – Konya, we believe that timely intervention, combined with advanced medical expertise and compassionate care, makes a life-saving difference for children.
